Electric bikes and an electric scooter parked outside the southwest gate of Oviedo. Many students rely on these electric micromobility devices to get to school, and currently, they are not allowed to be parked on campus bike racks, and instead must be secured outside the school gates. These students may soon face a greater threat to their preferred mode of transportation: new city regulations regarding these vehicles.

The phone corral in AP Statistics and FACT College Algebra teacher Angela-Mia Fenton's classroom is regularly filled with phones. Starting in July 2023, with the passage of Florida HB 379, phone use became prohibited in class time unless explicitly allowed by teachers and students had to store their smartphones in a designated space, usually a wooden box or fabric hanger at the front or back of the room. “From an execution perspective, objectively and visually seeing a phone separated from the person removes that temptation,” AP Research and AP Biology teacher William Furiosi said.
